No, it is completely free for both the customers and the Health Heroes who advertise their skills on the website.
We screen all potential Heroes with an interview and a comprehensive vetting procedure. This process will deter most non-qualified people from attempting to become a Health Hero. We ensure that the health & fitness professional know that we are a consumer information service and that we have to remain unbiased. We have a comprehensive procedure for handling negative comments and complaints.
The Health Hero staff are trained to review and asses the applicants suitability before arranging an interview. To pass our vetting procedure we request:
Identification & Proof of Address – a photo ID and, depending on the type of company we require proof of the company’s trading address in the form of a utility bill or credit check.
Qualifications - we require proof that the applicant is qualified to undertake their chosen profession (e.g. Personal Training Level 3 qualification).
Insurance - we require proof that they hold Public Liability and combined insurance if they employ people.
Code of Conduct and Ethics - we require the applicant to sign to agree to follow them.
Credit Check – a Credit Check on applicants that are Limited and Limited Liability Partnership companies to check their financial history.
Company history - we look at length of experience and the company’s history as well as VAT and company legal status.
Professional Bodies – while some health and fitness professionals are under no legal obligation to become a member of a professional body, membership will mean they have met certain requirements set by their professional body and must abide by a code of ethics and complaints procedure. We check claimed memberships with professional bodies and you will be able to see which professionals are registered/accredited with their professional body.
Yes, generally Health Heroes will charge you for their services. That said, if you go to your GP, you may receive some sessions free of charge, but you will need to check this with them directly.
Yes we do. In the unlikely event that a Health Hero falls short of the standard, their membership will be suspended. Our initial vetting is stringent, and the monitoring process puts their reputation and future work on the line.
The number of Health Heroes advertising on the site is growing month on month but building up the directory in each area will take a little time.
You can help us extend our coverage by giving us feedback about the health and fitness professionals that you have used and we will then contact them and ask them if they are willing to be vetted and continuously monitored by Health Heroes.
